Derek Siemens M.Arch , B.Sc. Architectural Design (Université de Montréal), PG Dip Architecture (Cardiff University)
“The spaces we imagine and give shape to - which frame our existence - have the power in turn to shape us. It is in response to this belief that I pursue architecture. It fuels my desire to continually broaden and deepen my understanding of how we use and relate to our environment. I also believe that good design emerges more than it can be imposed, it is a harmonious synthesis of need, desire, and due consideration of opportunities.”
Derek has a wealth of architectural experience spanning almost 20 years which includes design, detailing, and site supervision.
Before establishing his own architecture practice, Siemens Architecture, Derek was Senior Architectural Designer at Roberts Limbrick in Newport.
From 2013 to 2022 he was Senior Associate at Batterham Smith Architects in Bath, during which he gained immense experience managing a range of projects from conception through to completion.
In 2009 Derek started at IWA architects in Clitheroe then went on to cube_design in Ringwood where he worked on the Silverstone masterplan and many education projects including Bath Spa University digital arts building.
Before 2009 Derek was designing bespoke houses in Carmel, California after several years at Lemay et Associés in Montréal.
From 2001 to 2005 he studied architecture at the Université de Montréal earning both his Bachelor of Science, Architectural Design and his Master of Architecture. Along the way - specialising in sustainable design - he earned the ‘Bourse Guy Desbarats’ and was a finalist in the Solar Decathlon in Washington DC.
